A number of people at Lafayette have been reporting a problem with Dreamweaver 8 no longer retaining their username and password information for their web sites. It turns out that the problem is Internet Explorer 7 (and 8); if you have either of these installed on your computer, it breaks Dreamweaver’s ability to save username and password information.
Crazy, but apparently true (based on this Adobe Knowledge Base article). The solution is to download and install the Dreamweaver 8.02 patch … but that doesn’t always install properly. If the install fails (and it does this silently, so the only way to know it doesn’t work is to go to the Help > About menu and verify that the version number changed from 8.0 to 8.02) then you need to uninstall and re-install Dreamweaver and then apply the patch (per this Adobe Knowledge Base article).
If you’re at Lafayette, you’ll need help with the uninstall/reinstall, so be sure to contact the Helpdesk first.
