The Courts of Chaos is the final book in Roger Zelazny’s first Chronicles of Amber series. The series involves the scheming of the royal family of Amber — the one true city in the one true world, of which the rest of the universe (including Earth) is but a shadow. It’s protagonist, Corwin, has finally seen through the many levels of deception and understands the true threat to the realm.
The Chronicles of Amber is trippy 1970s fantasy at its best, written by a true master of the genre. I first read it back in college, and I’ve been slowly re-reading the series over the last two years (well, actually “re-listening” since I’m listening to them in audio forum via Audible).
