iPhone and iPad apps
- Kotoba! on iOS (free and locally stored, so it can be used without wifi) You can use the Chinese handwriting input with the Kotoba! app to draw a character and then look it up. It works for most of the basic characters that students would need.

- japaneseapp.com by renzo Inc It’s a dictionary app for iPhone & iPad. Great depth of words and allows search in English, romaji, and Kanji by SKIP Code, Components, and using Handwriting. ($14 to $17)
