To study how informal STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) education can help students grasp complex concepts in sustainability, Emily McGonigle ’15 and Nikki Bauer ’16 put together a 4-day STEAM Camp called “Our Beautiful World”. This camp intended to use fun and engaging activities to teach 4th-6th grade campers how the STEAM fields work together to create “Our Beautiful World” and how they influence the movement towards a more sustainable lifestyle. Campers took surveys before and after the program to measure how much they learned from the various modules.
