The Word from Porter Street (1st installment, Jan. 23, 2011)

Click here to listen to the first installment of my new podcast, The Word from Porter Street.  I’ll be posting to this about every 2 weeks or so, talking about my teaching, research, or whatever else occurs to me.  My gimmick is that I finish each installment by reading a passage from something I’m working on at the time (written by other people, not me); this time, it’s Stephen Crane’s “The Open Boat.”

Feel free to leave comments on the site here, and check back for more installments and additional information to be added to the other pages soon (no, really!).

It is so amazing to me that I can enjoy literature again through the eyes and now the voice of my beloved son. This is a great idea – thanks for sharing.

WOW! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and words! What a wonderful idea. I look forward to future podcasts. Son, I cannot express how extremely proud of you. It is such a joy and blessing to be your father,
