Ecophysiology of Turtle Adaptability: Results

  • When the species composition of each site was compared, the red-eared slider turtles were found to be most common in the Hope Road habitat
    • Hope Road was also the habitat with the greatest number of turtles

  • When the species composition of each season was compared, the greatest turtle populations were found during  June and July

  • The comparison of each species composition by observation method indicated that more red-eared slider turtles were observed from afar than were caught

Species Composition by Season (Hope Road Only)

  • A comparison of the species composition by season and method were performed a second time, solely with the Hope Road data, in order to account for sampling bias
    • Most of the data that was collected for the study occurred at Hope Road, so another comparison was performed to ensure that the large amount of data collected from Hope Road did not skew the overall results of the study
    • The Hope Road comparisons, however, yielded very similar results as those provided by the data that pertained to all of the habitats in the study
