Much like all of us, I have long known about copyright. However, I had never realized how closely and how much it directly pertains to myself. Even more so due to my hobbies, namely the anime industry. My blog posts show what I have known and learned about copyright in relation to anime, as well as how important a factor it plays in what fans like myself can do.

“What if” is always a difficult question. It creates a realm where speculation takes control and evidence is scarce, due to the evidence mostly being hypothetical as well. The concept of removing copyright from history would be similar to removing influential people from history. In my essay, I discuss the possibilities of the world if King Charles II of England never imposed the original copyright – the Licensing Act – and it stayed that way.

Two of my posts regard the creation and selling of copyrighted material, both of which I have personally dealt with before. My last post gives consideration to creation, but rather than of copyrighted materials, from such materials.

Things like copyright enforcement are always going on, always in need of improvement, whether it be efficiency, accuracy, or quantity. One of the newer copyright enforcement tools is the Copyright Alert System, recently implemented to regulate online pirating. Our collaborative essay explains and explores the system while giving an analysis of it through Goldstein’s perspective.

My first blog post gives my view on the idea of “reading” and on what I read today. My second post shows an example of blatant copyright infringement that I knew about, and which I recognized as such before I even knew details about copyright. My third post gives a look on my own experience with recommendations and my opinion on who should have the right to make recommendations.

E-books and the evolution of the book started this class with debates and the defense of physical books. My essay takes the opposite approach to the issue. While books are nice and all, e-books is the next step to the progression of books, and eventually e-books will become the standard.
