Lord of the Rings Parody

Here is the Lord of the Rings parody I brought up in class the other day.  I think that it is completely fine if people make parodies because it is not trying to change what the original work was. It should be an honor to have a parody made because that means someone or some people thought that a work of art was important enough and relevant enough in society to have a parody be entertainment for others.  This parody obviously is not the movie, but it follows the basis of the movie.  I think it is great marketing to have parodies made and they should continue.  It takes creativity to make a parody and some people are really good at it.

Sounds good. Parodies certainly speak to the popularity of a work. They’re really just the next level of simply discussing a work.

Parody also takes the feel of “I want to see more of it” and lets it be cleverly used in different situations. It also gives the audience a chance to relate with “I know what he’s talking about, that’s funny!”

Parodies definitely have the potential to help spread the success of the author of an original work. I myself have come across numerous parodies in my lifetime that introduced me to the original work, which I then became a fan of.

I agree with the post and previous comments. Youtube makes it easy to watch parodies and instantly search for the original in order to better understand the joke.
