There were many factors to Arabian Nights that I thought were good. First off, the theater was small and intimate, which I thought was a nice touch. The set was very well designed; a lot better than I thought it was going to be. It allowed for a lot of variations in acting by the participants to make the play their own. I think its cool that no two plays will be the same.
Going along with your point that no two plays will be the same, I thought it was really cool how the bag scene was improvised. The play definitely gave the actors a lot of room to add personal touches.
What a good thing that Zimmerman is so loose with adaptations of her play. Every theater will need to make these changes to target their audience. The original play that Zimmerman produced might not go over so well as one made by someone who knows Lafayette.
Knowing that it was improvised made me want to go to multiple shows just to see what happened. I appreciate the fact that they were able to stay true to improvising every show.
The actors did such a great job with the improvisation. That was definitely my favorite seen because it reminded me a little bit of a snl skit.
