I am glad that Spike Lee called these authors out for what they said in the newspaper articles. It was not right of them at all to only bring up how Mookie broke a white person’s property and not mention how the NYPD killed a black man. Lee has a reason to be frustrated. It is crazy to think even 25 years later things have not changed and racism is still a major problem in some parts of the country.
To add on to your above statement, I was saddened to see how the media completely spun this move review. By not mentioning the fact that Radio Raheem was murdered but only the fact that a white man’s property was destroyed is inexcusable and wrong. This being said, Spike Lee has much reason to feel frustrated.
I agree too. I like how Spike Lee speaks out and directly responds to the article and mocks it. He is disappointed and sees much further and deeper than the writer of the article. Spike Lee is a figure who used art, in the form of film, to say something about racism and the divide of blacks and whites. Spike Lee is an inspiration and I like how even 25 years later he speaks up about his feelings.
