This was really well done, I liked it a lot. The music was a great touch and fit the theme of futurism, nice work. I liked your discussion on the context: the gender norms, idea of utopia, and the two fallacies, I think you really nailed those on the head. I enjoyed the references to ancient times and also modern times, and then bringing it all together in the second to last slide; it really brings the whole presentation full circle, and I liked that a lot.
I have a couple of nit picky suggestions for you. First, I feel like the audience is intended to be much broader than just our class, references to the class are good, Cohen definitely wanted that, but try not to narrate at the class. My second nit pick is that throughout the slidecast you were very professional, which is great, but sometimes you would slip to a much more casual tone– try to keep it consistent.
Overall, great job it was interesting and definitely kept my attention for the full duration.
Overall, your slidecast was very informative and entertaining. I really like that you started by taking the time to analyze the details of the photo. As a viewer, I found this helpful because at first glance, I did not notice the barbecue in the corner or that it was specifically a mother and daughter in the flying machine.You did a great job adding course concepts into the slidecast, including the fallacy of social continuity and the technological fix. I also like that you continued to push the theme of flying technology as a signal for the future, dating back to Greek mythology. However, I think it would have been beneficial to point out the specific values of the 50s that made the flight technology in your image relevant to the time. Additionally, when discussing an image of people flying over a farm, you state that a flying machine would “clearly” be the best way to view a farm. I think it may be beneficial to identify why this was an obvious mode of transportation and what values it reveals.
Overall this was well done. Your pacing as you went through the was good and consistent. I really liked the additional touch of the background music. You thoroughly discussed the social contexts of your flying images, like how specifically the mother is flying the daughter where she needs to go. I really liked the tie in to the fallacy that social structures remain constant in the future. In addition, I liked that you talked about how flying vehicles are often used to signify the future. Although, I think that you made this point on too many slides (you could have otherwise had more room to talk about additional trends). Although your connections to class were well thought out, I think you relied a little bit too heavily on them. Instead of using so many images from class, maybe do more of your own digging next time? Lastly, to end positively, I really liked how you went all the way back to DaVinci’s time and Greek mythology and did not limit yourself to the past two centuries. Considering the fact that personal flying machines have a very long history, this was a good approach.

I liked how you compared the two images, that as time passed the house would stay a constant, but they form of transportation did. You had a lot of different kinds of evidence and it made it easy to make connections and understand your argument. I like how at the end you addressed your sources and explained your findings! I think your presentation assumed that the viewers were people from our class so it may be more difficult for outside viewers to follow. Other than that I think you did great!
