This long-term project is the work of a team of Lafayette College faculty and students lead by myself, Dru Germanoski, and Megan Rothenberger of Environmental Science & Studies. We are working in collaboration with Wildlands Conservancy who is managing the dam removal project, Princeton Hydro, the engineering contractor, and DRBC, which has overall responsibility regarding most of the funding for the project. Our goal is careful long-term monitoring of dam removal impacts on the stream, including both its physical and biological characteristics. Surprisingly, although there have been hundreds of small dam removals over the last few decades (see American Rivers dam removal map, there are few such studies in the literature. After years of delay for various reasons, removal is now scheduled for summer 2023 (fingers crossed!)
