General Body Meeting of 11/8/2024: Market Update, Buy Pitch, and Educational Segment

Daniel Colden ‘26 presented the Market Update on Friday, November 8th. The update covered major indexes and policy expectations, including tax cuts, the Job Acts Extension, and tariffs. He also highlighted the Federal Reserve meeting on Thursday, November 7th, and its decision to cut rates by 25 basis points.

Eric Wang ‘26 presented a buy pitch for Intuitive Surgical (ISRG), a leading manufacturer, designer, and marketer of surgical systems and a pioneer in robotic-assisted surgery. His investment thesis highlighted ISRG’s Compound Annual Growth Rate, adjusted revenue, EBITDA, and market cap. He proposed selling all shares of Biogen (BIIB) to purchase ISRG, noting that this transition would provide exposure to high-growth, technologically innovative, and stable healthcare segments with lower regulatory risk. The club decided not to sell BIIB shares and also chose not to purchase ISRG.

Grace Boghosian ‘25 presented an educational segment on private credit. She outlined the role of private credit in modern portfolios, its recent growth, its appeal to investors, and the top players in the space, emphasizing the importance of moving beyond the traditional 60/40 portfolio.
