General Body Meeting of 11/15/24: Market Update, Sector Updates, & Buy Pitches

Charles Taliano ’27, Jimmy Paugh ’26, and Lorenzo Marsili ’27 presented the Market Update on Friday, November 15th. The update covered major indexes and key headlines, including Bitcoin reaching a new record high following the election, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell announcing that the Fed isn’t “in a hurry” to slash rates, and the October Producer Price Index rising 0.2% as expected.

Sector updates were presented by Executive Board members. Jacqueline Ryan ’26 delivered the Healthcare sector update, covering a market overview, key drivers in healthcare, top performers in the portfolio, and the investment outlook. Hudson Pace ’27 provided the Industrials sector update, discussing sector news, future outlook, top performers, and underperformers in the portfolio. Lorenzo Marsili ’27 presented the TMT sector update, highlighting sector trends and news, top portfolio performers, and an update on the club’s overinvestment in the TMT sector.

Ozzie Shenk ’27 and Hank Skatoff ’25 presented a buy pitch for FedEx. Their presentation included an industry overview, company background, differentiation, outlook, and potential risks. Their investment thesis featured a valuation through a DCF analysis, showing a capturable upside of 4%. The club voted to invest in this position.

Eric Wang ’26 pitched Intuitive Surgical (ISRG). His presentation included company background and an investment thesis, which emphasized a valuation analysis of ISRG. The thesis outlined the company’s unlimited Total Addressable Market (TAM), its capacity to expand into other industry facets, revenue projections, EBITDA, market capitalization, and a price target of $600/share. The club voted to invest in this position.
