Seniors in the Environmental Capstone Class designed a green space alongside the stream for community and Lafayette student usage. Input from both groups is needed in order to develop the area to make the most of its potential. While decisions regarding the removal of invasive species and the inclusion of infrastructures such as lighting and park benches are no-brainers, more specific design plans will be specified and proposed to Lafayette’s stakeholders. Several concept plans have been created for the area’s restoration.

A full description of the concept plans for the proposed area can be found here.

Main goals of the improved space include:

  • Create a green space and entrance to KSAT for Lafayette and Easton community
  • Remove asphalt and cement
  • Remove chain-link fences blocking the river
  • Remove ‘Keep Out’ signs
  • Replace overhead utilities with underground utilities
  • Create a path that goes along Bushkill Creek
  • Install bike racks
