I am a woman.  I stand up, talk loud, and take up space.  I am a professor who is engaged with her students, her institution, and her community.  I am a researcher interested in the brain and how it works.  I am educated and constantly learning more.  I am a mother of a wonderful young woman. I am a politically active progressive.  I am concerned about my world and the other life in it.  I grow food.  I define animals as people.  I believe fundamentally in alternative perspectives.

I believe life is an interdisciplinary endeavor.
