Pioneering Women of Lafayette

As usual, we have packed lots of events in at the end of the semester!

The Coed Alumnae Tea with Prof. Dubischar and a visiting classics scholar was a blast. Diane Shaw and Elaine Stomber from Special Collections joined the alums to hear stories from the days when the graduation invitation still said “coats and ties only.” We also discussed the turbulence of the era and parallels to the tensions and anxieties students face today. Alma Scott-Buczak ’74 told current Scholars and me about the first years of the Program, when women Scholars were not allowed to live at the House but, according to her, some really did!
