House Trip!

The McKelvys and I fueled ourselves with cider and pumpkin donuts at the House this past Saturday, and set off at noon to conquer the Camelback treetop adventure and disc golf courses. The drive was beautiful, the weather was perfect, and the foliage was in peak condition. Katie, Tania and I headed for a hike up the slopes, taking time for pictures and frisbee chasing in the woods along the way. The holes down the slope were definitely the highlight of the course. There is nothing quite like sailing a frisbee off a steep mountainside. We admired a red-tailed hawk in the sky and more than 10 hawk feathers on the ground. After launching all our discs on the last hole, the hawk feathers were easier to find than the dayglo discs!

We warmed up with hot chocolate and 7-layer dip back at the lodge while we waited for the treetop adventurers. Some of the conquering heroes had to get back to activities on campus, but the folks who came back from the 5th (!) course at 5:30 were definitely ready for a bite, so we stopped for burgers on the way home and talked about music, War of the Worlds, and sore muscles. A great day, as Lauren’s photos attest!
