Sandy
For concerned parents and alums, the House and its occupants weathered Sandy fantastically. We did not lose power although the lights dimmed a bit. On Monday, the winds howled and I made chicken soup for the crew and chili for dinner with the leftovers from our Sunday discussion. Students ate dinner and watched Hunger Games, which had to be restarted not a few times due to flickering electricity.
By Tuesday, it was time to survey the scene and stay up late since classes were canceled for Wednesday. The gingko tree lost quite a few limbs but happily spared the cars. By Wednesday, news of our power had spread through campus and profs and students were coming from far and wide to fill up the House and recharge their electronics. The election broadcast class meets at the House this afternoon.
Kyle took some gorgeous photos of the scene!
