White Halloween
We weren’t looking for a White Halloween but we got it! The snow added a romantic twist to the Halloween pumpkin and scarecrow fest on Saturday, until the overloaded tree limbs started cracking about once every minute or so. We were luckier than our neighbors, who got a tree on their roof, but branches from the large Gingko in the front yard took out our power at 6PM. McKelvy students were evacuated by flashlight by our valiant rescuers in Plant Ops and Public Safety, while yours truly + kitty threw another blanket on the bed and read Lan Samantha Chang’s new novel by flashlight. It sure is quieter on Saturday night when the House is empty. Pickle the cat was fascinated by the white stuff. At sunrise, we woke up to orange light streaming over the snow and a clear view of the mountains on the ridge.
In other House news, Kara gave a fabulous piano performance of a moody piece at the November lunchtime piano recital at the Williams Center, and field hockey goalie Mara beat Lehigh today 8-0 in the semifinals of the Patriot League Championships in DC. Report from Halloween fest to come!
