6 months ago, before I became a vegetarian, I ate Chick-Fil-A 3-4 times a week. The chicken nuggets and spicy chicken sandwiches were my absolute favorite food, complete with a side of their famous waffle fries and a vanilla milkshake. The workers at Chick-Fil-A treat their customers with the utmost respect, as they greet you with the most lovely and welcoming, “hi! How are you today? What can I get for you?” and after completing your order, they reply “Absolutely, it will be out shortly. Thank you so much for coming today and we hope you have an amazing day!” So so so nice. I thought the Chick-Fil-A business could not be beat, besides the extremely conservative views and the manager’s punch on gay marriage a couple of years ago, and them closing on Sundays. What I didn’t know was how their workers in the factory farms they got their chickens from treated the birds. Truly disgusting and worth the watch of the video and read of the article. I even signed the petition below. Now, I will not go to Chick-Fil-A for just my waffle fries. I will boycott that chain until they clean up their acts.

During a scene in the movie where he’s tending chickens on the farm, Spurlock simply opens a barn door and fences in a small, grassless patch of land. Do any of the chickens go outside into the fresh air? No. In fact, he has to chase them to get them remotely close to the door. Art Attackk
While Chic-fil-a is delicious, it’s just sad that so many of their practices are unethical. From how they treat homosexuality to this, it doesn’t really make much rational sense to support them as a company. The workers themselves are good people, but it’s sad that the corporate body allows their chickens to be treated so horribly.
Unfortunately, I feel as though Chick-Fil-A is one of many retail chains that gets its meat and poultry products from these types of factory farms. As we have discussed in class, it is so much cheaper for these stores to buy animal products from factory farms–resulting in larger profits for these companies. It is sad to think that companies would compromise human morals and ethics to make a little extra cash, but in the modern-day world such practices seem to be the trend.
I have never been to Chick-Fil-A and after watching this and reading the article I have no desire to. This is so heart-breaking and the worst part to me is that most customers are completely unaware of what is occurring behind the scenes; like you said they treat you so well when you come into the store that no one would expect this to be occurring behind the scenes. More people need to be educated on this matter, it’s truly disgusting and breaks my heart.
