DKE participates in Lafapalooza 2014

This past Saturday the Brothers of the Rho chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon participated in Lafayette’s National Day of Service known as Lafapalooza through the Landis Community Outreach Center.  The brotherhood was stationed at the Easton Urban Farm in downtown Easton, PA to help prepare for the new growing season.

The farm’s harvests are donated yearly to Easton Area Neighborhood Center’s food bank and senior citizen housing centers.

The brothers spent the day weeding, mulching, and preparing new tomato beds for the farm. The day’s efforts were an excellent opportunity to reach out to the community and offer a helping hand to an organization that benefits hundreds of people in Easton.

We would like to thank everyone at Landis and the Easton Urban Farm for allowing us access to the farm to provide service for the community. We would also like to thank Director of Service and Philanthropy Brother Sam Todd ’15 for coordinating DKE’s involvement in the event.

Am vergangenen Samstag nahmen die Brüder des Rho-Kapitels von Delta Kappa Epsilon am Nationalen Tag des Dienstes von Lafayette teil, der als Lafapalooza durch das Landis Community Outreach Center bekannt ist. Die Bruderschaft war auf dem Easton Urban Farm in der Innenstadt von Easton, PA stationiert, um bei der Vorbereitung auf die neue Wachstumssaison zu helfen. Die Ernten der Farm werden jährlich an die Lebensmittelbank und Wohnzentren für Senioren des Easton Area Neighborhood Center gespendet.

    Die Brüder verbrachten den Tag damit, Unkraut zu jäten, Mulch zu verteilen und neue Tomatenbeete für die Farm vorzubereiten. Die Bemühungen des Tages waren eine ausgezeichnete Gelegenheit, um auf die Gemeinschaft zuzugehen und einer Organisation, die Hunderten von Menschen in Easton zugute kommt, eine helfende Hand zu bieten.

    Wir möchten uns bei allen bei Landis und der Easton Urban Farm bedanken, die uns Zugang zur Farm gewährten, um der Gemeinschaft zu dienen. Wir möchten auch dem Direktor für Service und Philanthropie, Bruder Sam Todd ’15, für die Koordination der Beteiligung von DKE an der Veranstaltung danken.
