The National Crane Project, started by Lafayette College Theater and 10-year-old College Hill resident David Heard and his family, is working on getting 220,000 origami cranes folded and assembled into mobiles of 1000 cranes (since Japanese legend says 1000 cranes can grant a wish) to be installed in Pediatric Cancer Centers around the country for children who, like David did, are bravely battling childhood cancer. While David passed away in Feb. 2011, the National Crane Project, along with his family, is committed to carrying out his wish.
