e-Book Screen Share Instructions

We’d like the grandparent to screen share the e-Book that we emailed them with their grandchild. If your child doesn’t want to participate in the e-Book Screen Share activity, that’s ok. You could try coming back to it later in the video chat, or on a different video chat. If you try it a couple times and your child isn’t interested, let us know and we will send you the next activity. 

On-Screen e-Book Reading: How to share the On-screen eBook on Zoom?

Before you begin this activity, you should have set up Zoom Meetings. You can refer to this link for directions.

For this activity:

• The grandparent will share the pdf version of an e-book through the screen sharing option on Zoom.
• The grandparent will read the e-Book to their grandchild over Zoom.
• The grandchild can follow the story by listening and looking at the screen.

 

To share the e-book on the grandparent’s screen, they will first need to open the pdf of the e-book they received via email.

To begin sharing it, they must first select the green “Share Screen” button in the bottom center of the screen.

This will prompt them to select a window, similar to the picture below, to share on the screen.

When they are prompted to select a window, please select the window with the e-book, most likely their internet browser, then click the blue share button. See picture below for reference.

Once this has been selected, they can ask the parent and grandchild if they can see the e-book. Then, they can begin reading the book to the grandchild and the child should be able to see as they scroll or turn the pages. It might look like the picture below.
