me_sagrada3I am an Associate Professor of Government & Law at Lafayette College. After receiving my Ph.D from the University of California, Berkeley, my path to Lafayette took a number of preliminary steps through positions at Stanford University, Northwestern University, Duke University, and Williams College.

My research and teaching are in the field of political theory. My present work addresses the far right — particularly its politics of racial fear, captured in its anxiety over a supposed “great replacement”. This research  has appeared in both scholarly journals and popular outlets (The Washington Post, Slate, The Guardian), as well as international podcasts (QAA, Shout Out UK). This project on the politics of white rage comes to a head in my recently released book with the University of Minnesota Press (2024), The Rage of Replacement: Far Right Politics and Demographic Fear. The next stage of the project addresses the far right’s toxic politics of gender —  their deep anti-feminism, and their insistence that political renewal is only possible through a politics of masculine dominion.

My teaching interests are broad. In recent years, I have taught courses on The Radical Right, Capitalism and its Critics, Race and Mass Incarceration, Critical Theory, Conservative Political Thought, Modern Polit ical Theory, and Contemporary Political Theory.
