The Hunt for Hobnobs

On February 10th, 2025, my friend Callum sent a text to our group chat stating that, “The Hobnobs have Arrived.” I had known about hobnobs for quite some time, but this sparked my desire to acquire some for myself. For those uninformed, Hobnobs are a British biscuit made from rolled oats and I figured it would be fairly simple to find them in Europe. I was quite wrong in this assessment, as I would scour grocery stores and kiosks all across Germany, the Netherlands, and Denmark to no avail. I would then call one of my friends who was in Ireland at the time to ask if they had Hobnobs. At the time, he had no idea as to what I was talking about, but then he later told me that they did in fact have Hobnobs in Ireland.

This was perfect for me, as I knew that 3 of my friends would be going to Ireland over Easter Break. I asked them if they would be able to bring me back some Hobnobs from Ireland, and they would try to see if they could find any to bring back. When they returned from their venture I was gifted digestives, another biscuit popular in the United Kingdom also made by the same brand, but they were still not what I was after. I found them to be quite delectable, as they had a sweet carmelly taste and a pleasant mouth-feel. Now I only had one last chance to get my hands on some Hobnobs.

On our last weekend, my friend Andrew M would be headed to London to see a football game and I sent him on the same quest. He did actually pull through on this endeavor and I got my Hobnobs. I am filled with joy and excitement as my Hobnobs are sitting right here in front of me. In conclusion, Hobnobs are awesome and you should totally try and get some.
