January 6, 2015: Quito to Papallacta
Today we travel from the Quito area over the the eastern Cordillera to the village of Papallacta, the site very nice thermal springs. On the way we observe glacial geomorphology, and deposits and jointing in massive lava flows. As we cross the divide, we take a hike within the Coca-Cuyambe nature preserve examining the flora unique to these mountain areas. Finally as we enter Papallacta we observe more glacial features in the form of glacial striation stratched into the bedrock.
