A problem faced by college students on this campus is determining when to eat at the dining hall. This system would help make that process easier by providing data on the current status of the dining hall. Currently there is no information provided that allows students to know the occupancy of a dining hall. A people counter that would be implemented with a microcontroller would collect that data and make it available to students and help them decide when and where is the best time to eat. A people counter system could be realized using Lasers, LDRs and a Wi-Fi module to send the data to a server that would be accessible to Lafayette student
