2017-2018
Michael Bennett ’17: Arm Fellow No. 9
Michael graduated from Lafayette College with a B.S. in civil engineering and a B.A. in history. While at Lafayette, he served a year as President of the PA E TBP Chapter. During his term, Michael bolstered the chapter’s lineup of professional and social events and also worked to further its involvement in community service. As an undergraduate, Michael did research work on transportation sustainability rating systems and completed an honors thesis on how to monitor and improve railroad subgrade soil behavior. This fall, Michael will begin work on an M.S. in civil engineering at Virginia Tech with a concentration in geotechnical engineering. After earning his master’s degree, Michael plans to work in the transportation geotechnical engineering field and to earn licensure as a Professional Engineer. He is also strongly considering eventually resuming his graduate studies and earning a Ph.D. in civil engineering.
Patrick Leggieri ’18: TBP Academic Scholarship – Stabile No. 522
Patrick is studying chemical engineering with a minor in biotechnology at Lafayette College. He conducted research on biodiesel cold-flow properties, and the effects of shear stress on endothelial cells at Johns Hopkins Univ. He is TBP PA Epsilon chapter treasurer, an active member of AIChE, and a peer tutor for chemistry & mathematics. He plans to pursue a Ph.D. in chemical engineering or biotechnology.
Travis Shoemaker ’18: TBP Academic Scholarship – Scribner No. 42
Travis is majoring in civil & environmental engineering with a geology minor at Lafayette College. His interests include hydrology, structural, & geotechnical eng’g. Travis interned with PPL Electric Utilities, The Pidcock Co., Gannett Fleming, & most recently, McLaren Engineering Group. Travis enjoys researching geotechnical applications of remote sensing at Lafayette and intends to enter the construction industry & achieve a master’s in geotechnical engineering.
