Lafayette College registrar describes Spanish 313 as follows:
An interdisciplinary study that examines the evolution of Spanish society from the nineteenth to the twentieth century. Topics include Spain’s problematic transition from feudalism to modernity, the rise of regionalism and its impact on national identity, and literary creativity and censorship in a nation vaulting between reactionary and democratic political forces.
To put my spin on it:
At this point in my career in studying Spanish, I was at my peak. I was fearless in getting my point across writing in Spanish and I was becoming more fluent by the lecture. What I did not know was how diverse Spain was a country. Learning its history under the instruction of Professor Geoffrion-Vinci, I was able to destroy personal stereotypes about Spain and gain greater insight about a diverse nation.
My most important work in this class was my personal investigation of Spanish Basketball and learning my favorite sport on an international scale. Check it out: Basketball in Spain.
