Events

Many speakers and events at Lafayette are engaged in work related to inclusivity and justice, inclusive education, or inclusive STEM studies (or STS). Some events we’re particularly excited about in Fall 2020:

Sept. 2 2020 Olmsted Workshop on Whiteness and Anti-Black Racism (more)

Sept. 24-25 2020 An Inclusive and Equitable Campus – Campus Lecture & Workshops by Dr. Virginia Valian (more)

Oct. 2020 Dr. Ruha Benjamin, author of Race After Technology

Inclusive Teaching & Excellence Series

Lafayette’s Center for Integration of Teaching, Learning, & Scholarship facilitates faculty development and programming including a series in Inclusive Teaching & Excellence. The 2018-2019 series culminated with a  screening and discussion of Kendall Moore‘s film “Can we Talk? Difficult Conversations with Underrepresented People of Color: Sense of Belonging and Obstacles to STEM Fields.” In 2019-2020, conversations addressed classroom strategies, the needs of first-generation students, and decolonizing the syllabus. In summer 2020, we contributed to CITLS’ Anti-racist Teaching sessions. The 2020-2021 event schedule is available here.
