Completed Projects

Delaware Canal State Park Picnic Table

This April of 2023, our team installed the picnic table canopy in the Delaware Canal State Park, just 30 minutes south of campus, in Upper Black Eddy, PA.

This project certainly proved to be a logistical challenge, from working out design details to the formation of materials lists to the ordering and storage of parts. However, the team persevered, and we were ultimately able to order all the parts to Lafayette and build the roof/truss structure as a team outside of Acopian Engineering Center, and with the help of Lafayette Facilities Operations, deliver the structure to the park where it is currently being stored.

Easton Urban Farm Benches

In the fall of 2020, our team was successful in developing the final designs and constructed the two benches that were placed at one of Lafayette’s community partners: the Easton Urban Farm.

Karl Stirner Arts Trail Bridge

Our team had the opportunity to come up with a complete design, including landscape and lighting elements, for the bridge connecting Karl Stirner Arts Trails (KSAT) to a scrap metal yard.

Camp Papillon Dog Cart and Stroller

In the fall and spring of 2019, EWB successfully designed and built two dog carts for the Camp Papillon Dog Shelter in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania!

The purpose of the dog cart was to give a larger dog at the shelter an additional way to get more exercise. It allowed this and future dogs to pull heavier loads in the cart.

A stroller was also built, allowing smaller or injured dogs to be able to take walks. It reduced the need for them to walk the entire time as somebody can push them in the stroller. The downtown shop, Mercantile, graciously helped us sew the walls of the stroller!

LafKid Connect STEM Educational Outreach

With the help of Professor Squarcia, Lafayette EWB had the opportunity to partner with LafKid Connect in the fall 2020 semester. LafKid Connect is another student club on campus. EWB created an educational module to present to students at a local Easton middle school. The goal of this module was to teach students about engineering soft skills and encourage them to pursue higher education in STEM.

Problem-solving, creativity, estimation, teamwork, and communication were the skills that were focused on within the module. Pictionary, scavenger hunts, and word problems were utilized to actively engage the students, making the module more interactive!

We hope to continue to work and collaborate with LafKid Connect. Our goal is to inspire students to consider pursuing a degree in STEM!
