less water

This week has been going quite well concerning my sustainable behavior challenge.     Although on the first day I still forgot to bring my cup to the bathroom, during the following days of the week, I always brought it to the bathroom. Actually, I put it in the shower caddy, so that I will never forget it again.
I don’t think there was really any hard thing this week about changing my behavior. However, at the beginning, I was still tempted to let the water run even if I was holding the cup full of water. And I think the most positive thing is, as I use my cup every day, I think that I have saved some water even if it may not be much. And even thinking of it makes me feel good. I know I can’t calculate the exact amount of water I did not waste during those days, but I am just glad I could do it, and at the same time, act for a better use of the resource we have.

Using a cup while brushing teeth affects especially the water usage and conservation. Water conservation activities reduce the demand for water, improve the efficiency in use and reduce losses and waste of water. It was found that a typical faucet runs between 2 to 2.5 gallons of water per minute. So if I let it run during the time I am brushing teeth, I can say that I will waste many gallons of water that can be used for something else, such as the laundry or the dishes. And because life is now becoming more and more difficult, saving water helps saving money as well.

Here is a link I found that can make us think about that concern:
