Abstract: Lafayette College is considered avant-garde in the academic world because of its strong emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration, seamlessly interweaving the liberal arts with the engineering and sciences. Additionally, Lafayette College considers itself on the frontlines of increasing knowledge, awareness, and leading debates in the fields of Environmental Sciences and Sustainability. Large student-run organizations like the Society of Environmental Engineers and Scientists (S.E.E.S.) and Engineers Without Borders (E.W.B.) give students the opportunity to learn about the most recent environmental debates and partake in life-changing sustainability initiatives. But while many of the students and faculty at Lafayette immerse themselves in these sustainability initiatives, much of this work goes unnoticed by both the Lafayette community and the Easton community as a whole. The goal of the project is to address the communicative issues that the students, faculty, and college face in regards to the sustainability initiatives and create a group on campus whose task is to make them inescapably visible to the community. They will be charged with giving a voice to these groups and projects undertaken at the college, placing all of the efforts undertaken in one place that can easily be accessed both electronically and physically. The Student Led Sustainability Initiative (S.L.S.I) will task itself with ensuring that the Sustainability and Environmental efforts at Lafayette College are effortlessly available to anyone interested no matter what their major or previous involvement.
