Mini Golf in Bonn

There is a miniature golf course about a five-minute walk from my house in Bad Godesberg, and I, for whatever reason, didn’t go play until the second-to-last week of my study abroad trip. My family was visiting and my host mom was kind enough to let them stay at the house, so on easter sunday, we decided to go play some mini golf.

I had previously played a pirate themed mini golf in Rheinaue Park, which was expensive and felt like any course I could’ve played in Myrtle Beach, but the course in Bad Godesberg was unlike any course I had ever played.

The course is a neighborhood staple

Talking to my host mom, who grew up in a house five minutes away from where she lives now, I learned that the course has been there since she was a kid, and she used to play with her family on the weekends. The course also has a small cafe and is a gorgeous place to have lunch or a drink on a sunny day. One other interesting thing is that the course is approved for professional tournaments, which happen frequently.

Some Unique Designs at Einkehrhaus Trimborn Mini Golf

  • All of the holes, rather than having an artificial turf putting surface, were made of painted concrete. This made for a unique challenge and some new ways to play the game.
  • The course was not crowded with tacky decorations like many courses; instead, the beauty came from the landscaping and the surrounding forest.
  • Hole seven was potentially the most unique individual mini golf hole I have ever played. You line up for the hole as if you are at a driving range, and hit the ball off a tee toward a fence that is similar to a baseball backstop. It was an interesting break from a typical mini golf hole.

Final Thoughts and a few gripes with the course

There were two main things I didn’t love about the course: some of the shot design was quite repetitive, and the concrete design of the holes made it so if you missed the hole by a little bit your ball would end up rolling as far away as it could before it hit a wall since there was nothing to slow it down of stop it from rolling if there was a slight incline.

Overall, this was an amazing course; benches at every hole made it possible for my mom to play with us, and the scenery was beautiful. If anyone is visiting Bonn, I recommend this as a fun place to visit if the weather is nice.
