Welcome to our Senior Design Project ! We are a group of nine senior students majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering and three in Integrative Engineering developing an automated wheelchair. Our project focuses on enhancing mobility for individuals by incorporating advanced sensor technologies and autonomous navigation features.
We are excited to share our progress and innovations throughout this journey. Stay tuned for updates!
ABSTRACT
Lafayette College’s Engineering Division has requested that the 2025 senior class
work to design a Biometric Autonomous Droid (BAD-2024) system for deployment
on the fourth floor of the Acopian Engineering Center. The main objective of the
proposed system is to create an autonomous wheelchair that is capable of navigating
a single-floor indoor setting. The wheelchair will contain all of the items necessary
for self-containment and autonomous operation for a finite time and over a limited
range. This system is composed of a physical wheelchair, a joystick for navigation, a
24V battery, two motors, a comprehensive sensor system, self-driving capability, and
an interactive interface. The proposed system is intended for indoor use only.
