Cadence’s Inclusion Rebranding

As of Spring, 2023, Cadence has officially rebranded from being an All-Female A Cappella group to a Treble Voices A Cappella group. 

We’ve made this change in hopes to be more inclusive to gender-nonconforming members and to stand in solidarity of the LGBTQ+ community at Lafayette and beyond. Cadence recognizes that SSAA music can be performed by people of all genders and we hope to be pioneers of gender-inclusivity!

While we recognize that Cadence’s women-only membership had been a fantastic choice for supporting women in A Cappella spaces, we hope this change will let members and auditionees that don’t indentify as female to feel more included. Cadence will still be an advocate of Women and femininity in A Cappella spaces and we do not tolerate discrimination of any kind.

We will be holding increasingly inclusive auditions as of Fall 2023! Special thanks goes out to our gender-nonconforming members who have inspired this change and Cadence’s executive board of 2023-2024 for making it happen.
