Formation

After their A Cappella group “8 Days To Midnight” disbanded in 1990, Missey Labov Dweck (’93) and Jody Forester (’93) founded Cadence. Cadence has been making waves with original student arrangements, fierce talent, and a significant presence on campus since the group’s creation.  Lafayette’s only female A Cappella group has competed in the ICCA’s, making it to the second round in Spring, 2003 and placing 3rd in the Mid-Atlantic Finals in Spring, 2005. Cadence was fortunate enough to workshop with the Grammy-award-winning jazz group New York Voices and perform for the Nobel-Prize-winning author Toni Morrison at a rally for Barack Obama. In 2014, the group was contacted by a casting director from “America’s Got Talent” requesting that Cadence audition for the upcoming season. And in 2015, Cadence actually got the opportunity to record our own music video to the song Drops of Jupiter by Train. In 2017, Cadence opened for the Rockettes at Radio City! Each year, Cadence participates in numerous events for the Lafayette population and the city of Easton.

Present Day

Since the COVID pandemic, Cadence has been making significant progress to recover and thrive in Lafayette’s A Cappella sphere and beyond. Cadence was invited to perform at the banquet event following the inauguration of Lafayette’s new President, Nichole Hurd, in Fall, 2021. After an incredibly successful year in 2022 performing at our annual Evening of A Cappela, the Winter Village in Downtown Easton, Gracedale Nursing Home‘s Spring Talent Show, and Spring Jams, Cadence hopes to make more strides this coming fall! Cadence has rebranded to a Treble Voices A Cappella group as of Spring, 2023 in hopes to become more inclusive for gender-nonconforming students and welcomes our new Club Advisor Dr. Jennifer Kelly in preparation for the 2023 – 2024 school year.

If you would like to schedule Cadence to perform at your event, please do not hesitate to contact us; we would love to hear from you! Stay tuned for upcoming concerts and events, and thank you for your support!
