The American Institute of Chemical Engineers Chapter at Lafayette College is a student chapter of the chemical engineering professional organization. The chapter connects the Department of Chemical Engineering and the students in social and academic endeavors and aids in the professional development of chemical engineering students.
ChE Seminar Series: Brownbag Lunch Talks
Brownbags are held over the lunch hour on various topics, including internships, professor research, and grad school. Additionally, the Speaker Series brings industry experts to Lafayette to discuss their work and career path out of college.
Student-Faculty Interaction Events
Lunch talks, pub nights, finals study breaks, and other events where students can get to know faculty and other students.
Plant Tours
Students have the opportunity to tour a large chemical plant on annual trips.
Mentoring Program
The mentoring program provides the opportunity for first-year and second-year students to interact with with junior and senior mentors for academic and career advice. The program includes the shadowing of upper level ChBE classes.
Conferences
Students and faculty attend both the regional and national AIChE conferences. Students participate in conference lectures, meetings, and present EXCEL research papers and posters.
Community Outreach
Past events have included kickball events, experiments at the Landis Literacy Day, and science demonstrations at local elementary schools.
