This was our first lightning round meeting.  A list of different topics was circulated in advance, listing which topics would be covered at which tables.  After updates from President Weiss, we all got up and went to tables with topics that were of personal interest to us.  Presentations lasted 15 minutes, after which we had 5 minutes to move to another table.  We did three of these sessions in a row.  The topics are listed below.

In August 2012, the student houses on the 600 block of Monroe Street re-opened as
13 distinct Living Learning Communities (LLCs). The purpose of the LLC program is
to provide students with an opportunity to explore an academic topic or discipline
outside the boundaries of the traditional classroom setting. Join us for a short

Addressing Alcohol and Drug Abuse on Campus
The Alcohol and Other Drug Standing Committee (AODSC) has focused its efforts on
high-risk drinking and the negative implications of these behaviors on the Lafayette
community. The AODSC is working to reduce dangerous and negative outcomes of
excessive alcohol use, including blackouts, hospital transports, vandalism, harm to
self or peers, and violations of the College’s code of conduct. In this session you will
hear about some of the preliminary plans of the AODSC and have an opportunity to
make suggestions to this on-going and important work.

Learn about the current status of the portal and unified communications projects, as
well as other ongoing work by ITS.
6 Matt Hyde Admissions 101: Data & Voice
Enjoy a quick dunk into the competitive landscape of selective college
admissions and gain a better understanding of Lafayette’s approach to
crafting new classes of Leopards.
7 Steve Schafer New Policies: How You Might Be Affected
Did you know that soon you will be able to receive your travel reimbursements
electronically? The College has modified some of the policies related to travel,
expense reimbursement, and purchasing, among others. Come learn about the new
policies and some related enhancements that will be available to employees for
things like payroll direct deposit processing.
8 Rosie Bukics The Posse Foundation
The Posse Foundation is a national organization that identifies exceptional student
leaders from urban high schools who are typically overlooked by standard college
admissions processes. Lafayette College has been involved in the program every
year since 2002, accepting our first 11-student posse from New York City in 2002
and our first 11-student posse from Washington DC in 2006. There are typically 80
Posse students on campus and they contribute significantly to our campus in a
variety of ways, ably assisted in their journeys by a committed group of faculty and
administrators.

LAF360: The Student Experience Initiative
LAFAYETTE 360 is a comprehensive new program designed to connect students’
daily lives in ways that increase academic success, enhance a sense of individual
fulfillment, provide for a rich social life full of tradition and connection to the
College, and promote active participation in a community of values. Laf360 will
cover the full four-year arc of a student’s career, with steadily rising expectations
for the level of independence and responsibility he or she demonstrates from
matriculation through graduation. Please join us for a brief discussion of the work
over the spring semester. Ask questions, provide feedback, and/or offer your
insights from your perspective at the College.

As a LGBTQ person, it is sometimes difficult to determine who are your allies. At
times you may worry about whether or not you can disclose your identity or if you
may “slip up” and unintentionally come out when that wasn’t your intention. Learn
