The Heards attended the V Foundation Gala in May 2012 as guests of legendary ESPN announcer and analyst, Dick “Dickie V” Vitale. Vitale raises money for cancer research for the V Foundation. On May 18, 2012, David’s hope to fund cures moved forward when Dick Vitale announced that there will be a V Foundation Pediatric Research grant in David’s name.
