C2L Workshop 2018

Prof. Hendrickson and Ellen Mulvihill, a graduate student at the University of Michigan, facilitated a workshop on the Compute-to-Learn pedagogy at Lafayette College on November 2nd, 2018. The workshop provided an introduction to the Compute-to-Learn approach, including a tutorial on programming demonstrations in Mathematica. Participants also learned how C2L has been implemented at both the University of Michigan and Lafayette College, which informed discussions on strategies for implementing C2L in their own courses.

The materials from the workshop are provided below and are also available on GitHub.

Workshop Objectives: Participants will…
– Learn the basics of the Wolfram programming language
– Program a demonstration in Mathematica
– Develop ideas for demonstrations related to topics in their own courses
– Learn about differences in implementing C2L at various institution types
– Identify challenges and discuss strategies for implementing C2L in their own courses
