Alumni

Lafayette College has produced a number of distinguished alumni through its ROTC program and now through the Lehigh University Steel Battalion. Below are some recent graduates.

George H. Decker, ’24

One of the first graduates of the Leopard Battalion, General (GEN) George Decker commissioned as an Infantry officer in 1924. During World War II, he was chief of staff of the Sixth Army in the Pacific Theater, participating in the New Guinea and Philippine campaigns. In 1960, GEN Decker was appointed Chief of Staff of the Army, overseeing the response to the Berlin crisis and bolstering the Special Forces. GEN Decker retired in 1962 and died in 1980.

Duncan O’Dwyer, ’60

Lieutenant Colonel (LTC), Retired, Duncan O’Dwyer graduated from Lafayette in 1960 and from Cornell Law School in 1963. Commissioned as an Infantry officer, LTC O’Dwyer transferred to the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG) and enjoyed a 26-year career in the Army Reserves. Serving as a Staff Judge Advocate and military judge, LTC O’Dwyer retired from the Army in 1988. He is a managing partner at Forsyth, Howe, O’Dwyer, Kalb & Murphy, P.C.

James Milano, ’79

Major General James M. Milano '79

Major General (MG), Retired, James Milano graduated from Lafayette in 1979 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He served as an Armor officer for 33 years and rose to command the U.S. Army Training Center at Ft. Jackson, SC, the largest training center in the Army. In 2012, MG Milano retired.

Stuart Risch, ’84

Major General (MG) Stuart Risch graduated from Lafayette in 1984. Commissioned as a Field Artillery officer, MG Risch attended law school and entered the JAG Corps in 1988.  Currently, MG Risch serves as the Deputy Judge Advocate General of the Army.

David McGriff, ’18

Second Lieutenant (2LT) David Mcgriff graduated from Lafayette College with a degree in Government and Law and commissioned as an active duty Field Artillery officer. While at Lafayette, 2LT McGriff was a champion thrower on the Track and Field team. He participated in Ranger Challenge as well. 2LT McGriff is currently assigned to the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, NY.

 

R. Brad Au II, ’19

2LT R. Brad Au II graduated from Lafayette College summa cum laude with a degree in Government and Law and an honors degree in History. He commissioned as a Distinguished Military Graduate into the Quartermaster Corps of the Army Reserves. While at Lafayette, 2LT Au was a team sergeant for the Ranger Challenge team and president of the McKelvy Scholars Society. Currently he is assigned to the 387th QM Co. in Costa Mesa, CA.
