Teaching Philosophy (Why I teach)
With the aim of connecting students with skills and knowledge to foster social justice, I use feminist pedagogy, which prioritizes the examination of race, class, and gender within and beyond the classroom. I invite students to examine the roles of power and privilege in the material we cover and in their own lives. Conversations on these topics are often difficult, but this discomfort, when experienced in a safe classroom environment, can lead to perspective-changing learning experiences.
