In Karen Ruggles’ CS-270/TV-340: Multimedia course, students are introduced to motion graphics and compositing. One of the projects focuses on kinetic typography, which is often used in short form media such as advertising, social media visuals, and music videos. For this kinetic typography project, the class spent time listening to selected clips from Estoy Aquí: Latina Women of the Lehigh Valley, talking about social responsibility and the arts as well as reflecting on the women’s experiences. The students then chose a 20-25 second clip from one of the women and animated to the content. The students’ response was, on the whole, interested and more engaged than the typical approach to allow them to record their own audio.
