Past Projects

I’ve served on Student Government for two years now, and in that time I have undertaken many initiatives. Below are some of my proudest projects that I’ve accomplished on Student Government.

Involvement Fair (Fall 2014)

Coordinated the Involvement Fair (aka the Activities Fair). Some of the changes introduced were moving it to the more accessible location of the Quad, serving dinner outside, and expanding the time frame of the Fair itself in order to allow athletes the opportunity to participate.

It’s worth noting that it was not my idea to change the name.

Archival System (Spring 2014)

The goal of the system was to implement an easy-to-maintain system that archives and unifies Student Government records, minutes, budgets, internal Student Government documents, student club/organization records, club/organization contact information, etc.

This system has greatly streamlined Student Government’s workflow, allowing us to better serve and respond to club/organization needs.

As a result, any student can now view Student Government minutes, a frequently-updated student organizations guide, request previous constitutions and budget requests, amongst other things.

The full proposal can be found here.

Exploratory Committee on Programming Facilitation (ECPF) (Interim and Spring 2014)

The ECPF was responsible for reviewing Student Government’s current policies and procedures for the facilitation of Lafayette campus programming. The mission of the ECPF was to recommend a comprehensive reform of the current budgeting, scheduling, and managing of student programming facilitation to The Student Government.

As a result of the ECPF, the budget system was overhauled to better provide funding (both the amount and ease of access) to our student clubs/organizations to promote better and more frequent programming.

I was one of the few Representatives to sit on this committee, research other schools, and propose changes.

A full report of the ECPF can be found here.

Marquis Mixer (Spring 2013)

This was my pet project my freshman year as the Chair of Multicultural Affairs. On a Friday in mid-November, we gave people the opportunity to opt-in to sitting at a randomly assigned table with 2-3 of their friends and other students they were unlikely to know.

The goal of this event was to catalyze interactions between people who would not normally speak, and create a sense of community. The program was very successful and received positively by both students and Dining Services. The tradition was not continued after I left the position.
