Experience

I believe that my greater experience is what makes me the best person for the job. Below, you will find a summary of the various positions I’ve held on campus that make me a uniquely qualified candidate.

  • Two years as a Chair on Student Government
    • First year: Chair of Multicultural Affairs
      • I worked weekly with both Dean McKnight and LINC to make sure that the voices of our multicultural organizations were being heard on Student Government, as well as assisted in the projects of the Office of Intercultural Development.
    • Second year: Chair of Student Organizations and Co-Chair of the Budget Committee
      • Serve as the liaison between all student clubs/organizations on campus, making sure that Student Government always meets their needs and shape policy in a way most beneficial for them. I further assist clubs in programming and operation via my position on the Budget Committee.
    • I’ve also served on the Student Life and Campus Student Services Committees.
  • Co-Chair on the Alumni Relations Council
    • I’ve worked closely with the Alumni Affairs office in the past two years. This experience grants me a unique perspective on how to not only improve the Lafayette experience for students, but on how it influences us post-graduation.
  • Member of the Alcohol and Other Drugs Standing Committee
    • Member for nearly two years now, and work alongside faculty, administration, and other students to work on drug policy, education of the policy, and various drug-related initiatives (e.g. party registration).
      • Also a member of the Policies & Enforcement Subcommittee
        • Work with administrators and faculty to review the College’s drug policy, how it’s applied to students, and how it affects them. I spearheaded focus groups with certain campus demographics to obtain information so that we could work to best meet the needs of students.
  • Member of the ITS Student Advisory Committee
    • Meet regularly with the Office of ITS to provide student input for various initiatives, such as the “My.Lafayette” portal and website redesign (which is slated to roll out in approximately a year).
  • Member of the Lafayette Leadership Education Committee
    • Assist in the planning and execution of the annual Leadership Institute.
    • Also presented on Inclusive Leadership as part of the Leadership Challenge Series and served as the Student Host for the on-campus leadership workshop/retreat, Catalyst.
  • Member of the Student Appeals Committee
  • Vice-President of Quest
    • Served on the board of Quest for freshman and sophomore years (before I had to resign due to scheduling conflicts with Student Government).
  • Treasurer for the Minority Association of Pre-medical Students of Lafayette College
  • Intermittent member of the Bias Response Team
  • Member of the Exploratory Committee on Programming Facilitation
    • This was a Student Government ad hoc committee that met over Interim 2014 and proposed significant reforms to the budgeting and programming protocol. The complete listing of recommendations can be found here.
  • Member of the New Farinon Committee
    • Worked with a few other Student Government Representatives and various administrators/faculty to plan the changes seen to Farinon. This included working with the contractors hired to make these renovations.
  • Student Representative to Presidential Task Forces
    • Presidential Task Force on the Integrated Student Experience
    • Presidential Task Force on Enrollment Size and Program Capacity
    • Presidential Task Force on Curricular Innovation and Technology

In short: I have experience with various aspects of campus life that has allowed me to interact with both students and administrators. I am aware of the issues and needs of these diverse student populations, and can use my existing connections with administrators to effect real, tangible change.
