By May 2016, the complete design plan for the border or fence of the musical playground will be ready for construction. This design will include three separate sections of a musical fence. The musical fence will serve as both an attraction and a barrier for the playground, for it will be a chime that can be played by hitting it with a stick, mallet or other objects found in nature to create music.
- Overall, the park will span 100ft along the trail.
- The left and right portions of the fence will permit users to hear the song Fur Elise with the pipes are hit in order.
- While one portion of the fence will play Fur Elise, the other side will play custom, complementary song to the known tune.
- The center fence will permit users to create their own songs. This section of the fence will be structured to form 4 adjacent semicircles.
- Each semicircle will contain all 7 major notes in one major key or scale.
- This musical design plan allows for polytonality: a phenomenon in which multiple keys are played at once.
- The pipes will be constructed with stainless steel, for it was found that the material is not only durable, but also produces a pleasant sound.
