What is our goal?
Through the Sustainable Solutions course, our goal is to design and execute a musical playground, in the Karl Stirner Arts Trail, for members of the Easton community to enjoy. We aim to create a park that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also sustainable. The park will appeal to the environmental aesthetics of the arts trail, while keeping with the trail’s artistic theme. Only local, durable, and ecofriendly materials will be used to build the park. Therefore, the park will require minimal upkeep and will accent the natural environment of the arts trail.
Timeline
Phase 1 (Spring 2015): The KSAT Board of Governance developed and presented the original idea of integrating Lafayette students, faculty and Easton constituents, (local artists, musicians, and the Friends of the Karl Stirner Arts Trail), to develop a musical playground for the Karl Stirner Arts Trail.
Phase 2 (Fall 2015): The Fall of 2015 Sustainable Solution class designed a feasibility study of constructing a musical playground for the Karl Stirner Arts Trail.
Phase 3 (Spring 2016): By May 2016, the land of the park will be allocated and the musical fence of the park, as well as the benches and trees that allocate the perimeter of the park will be ready for construction.
Phase 4 (Summer 2016-Spring 2017):Construction of Phase 3 will yield the perimeter of the musical playground. The Easton Community will then determine the future directions of the park.
