I enjoyed this slidecast. It did an excellent job of informing the viewer the current status of solar energy in comparison to the more widely-used fossil fuels, and also gave a brief background on why fossil fuels are bad and what is actually happening with our environment. I was not previously aware on the difference between solar thermal and photovoltaic energy from solar panels, so learning the difference was a further point of interest. In addition, the information about nanotechnology made a nice alternative point, because I have never heard of bringing nanotechnology into energy generation. The point about the destruction of the environment and loss of habitat when creating solar fields I thought was also interesting, since we end up destroying the environment by trying to save it (by avoiding fossil fuels for energy). The audio was patchy at times, but it didn’t make a significant impact on the rest of the slidecast, which I thought was well done.

In high school, I took Environmental Science and a large portion of the curriculum was about different forms of energy production as well as the pros and cons of each, so this became a big interest of mine so I was really excited that I was assigned to your slidecast. I thought you did an excellent job of displaying your information in a nice, organized manner. I really liked how you talked about the current forms of energy production, such as coal, nuclear, hydroelectric, and wind and their pros and cons. You had a nice transition from that part of the research to solar energy. Your research and information on solar energy was on point. It was really cool to see all the different forms of solar energy and how they have residential solar panels that can be formed to the Spanish style ceramic roof tiles. On a commercial side, it was really interesting to see the four different types of solar collection such as the solar power tower, the solar farm, and so on. If someone had zero background knowledge in solar energy, and even general energy creation, and watched this slidecast, they would learn so much in under seven minutes. Overall, I really enjoyed watching your slidecast and you did an excellent job on research and conveying your information. Good job.
